Blinking out during alternating light sequence

Per a thread on DIY Christmas, the entire strand of lights will blink out occasionally when running alternating lights to effect a scrolling motion.  This happens in the preview and in the lights themselves.  And lights that are defined with set level are unaffected and stay on while the rest blink.

Agree, I was mainly looking to give you an option until I have some time to do some deeper debugging on what is going on with that setup in the alternating effect.

Yes, thank you for the workaround.  I was not aware of the Bars capability, and it is a good solution for the candy cane look I'm looking for.  FWIW, I think being able to use Alternating is still a valuable approach, for instance allowing you to be precise about the pattern (for instance, I also want to be able to scroll a traditional string of lights - red/green/white/blue/orange) as well as the speed.  The Bars effect is a little trial and error with the speed, and I don't see any way you can specifically request each color to be represented as a single light.

I am able to see the blinking you are talking about. I need more time to dig into the cause, but the way you have the multiple colors set up on the Alternate is a bit unusual. An alternative to try is to use the Bars effect on the Roof Line element configured like I have shown in the attachment. You only need one effect doing it this way and it provides a look similar to what I think you are after with less work. The speed setting is 53 in my example. You may have to fiddle with that a tick or two either way to get the speed you like.
